Contact Lens Services
We fit a wide range of contact lenses from all major US manufactuers. Just because you have astigmatism or need bifocals does not mean that you cannot be a contact lens wearer.
We also do specialty contact lens fittings for patients with Keratoconus and surgical ectasia.
Medical Eye Services
Dr. Shields is a liscensed optometrist with extensive therapeutic and diagnostic training in preventive eye care, emergency eye related issues and diseases including macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, red eyes, foreign bodies, dry eyes and other eye concerns.

Science and technology is always improving and advancing medical care. We believe in keeping up with those advancements. We use our HD retinal camera, HD OCT retinal scanner and patient friendly Zeiss Visual Field analyzer to give our patients the best possible care without the need of unnecessary referals for testing services. This technology allows us to diagnose and treat glaucoma, macular degeneration and other eye diseases at the earliest stages where vision loss can be prevented.
Surgical Co-management
Sometimes the best treatment plan calls for surgical intervention. We work with Pittsburgh's top surgeons. If you require cataract surgery, retinal surgery, oculoplastic treatment or wish to correct your vision with a LASIK refractive procedure, we have surgical referral sources you can trust. Normally most of your follow-up visits can be completed with Dr. Shields at our convenient Lower Burrell office.
